SMS Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy

Website Visitors, Job Applicants and Text Messaging

Effective date: November 1, 2026

Text messaging terms are in Section 4.

1. About This Notice

This notice explains how Goodville Mutual Casualty Company ("Goodville," "we," "us") collects, uses, shares and protects personal information we collect:

  • through our website, goodville.com (Section 2);
  • from people who apply for jobs with us (Section 3); and
  • through our text messaging programs (Section 4).

Policyholders, claimants and insurance customers. Information we collect in connection with an insurance application, policy, payment or claim is governed by our Privacy Policy for insurance customers, not this notice. That includes information you provide after you sign in to your policyholder account, through our online payment and claims services, and through our Contact Us form or by email about a policy or claim.

Independent agents. This notice does not cover information about independent agents collected through our agent portal.

No sale. We do not sell personal information collected under this notice for money. The Google Analytics and LinkedIn tools described in Section 2 let those companies collect information about your visit, which they may use for their own purposes, including advertising.

2. Website Visitors

Information you give us. If you use our Contact Us form or email us (other than about a policy or claim; see Section 1), we collect what you provide, such as your name, contact details and message, and use it to respond to you.

Information collected automatically. When you visit our website, our servers and the third-party services described below receive technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, the website that referred you, and the date and time of your visit. We use this information to operate, secure, troubleshoot and improve the website.

Cookies. We use cookies that are necessary for the website to work, such as session cookies that are deleted when you close your browser. The third-party services described below may also set or read their own cookies or similar technologies.

Analytics and advertising technology. On our policyholder sign-in page and certain COVID-19 information pages, we use Google Tag Manager to load the following tools:

  • Google Analytics, to understand how visitors use those pages. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect information such as the pages you view and how you arrived. You can opt out by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
  • The LinkedIn Insight Tag, which lets LinkedIn collect information about your visit, such as the page address, your IP address, browser information and LinkedIn cookies, and connect it to your LinkedIn account if you have one. LinkedIn may use this information for advertising measurement and targeting under its own privacy policy. You can manage LinkedIn advertising in your LinkedIn ad settings.

Other third-party services on our website.

  • Google reCAPTCHA, on our forms, to protect against spam and abuse. reCAPTCHA collects information such as device and browser data and how you interact with the page, and sends it to Google. Your use of reCAPTCHA is subject to the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
  • Google Maps, to display maps and locations.
  • Vimeo, to play videos embedded on our pages. Vimeo may give us general statistics about how often our videos are viewed.
  • Atlassian, which hosts images displayed on our blog.
  • Adobe Fonts and Google Fonts, to display text.
  • Datadog, to record technical errors on some pages so we can fix them.

These providers receive your IP address and other technical information when their content loads. Some of them act on our behalf; others, such as Google and LinkedIn, handle information under their own privacy policies. We update this section from time to time to reflect the technologies we use.

Do Not Track. Our website does not currently respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals.

Email. Ordinary email is not secure. Please do not send sensitive information, such as a Social Security number, by ordinary email. Use our secure email service instead, or contact us and we will arrange a secure method.

Other websites. Our website links to websites we do not control, including our careers site hosted by Paylocity (see Section 3). Those websites are governed by their own privacy policies.

Children. Our website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them through it.

3. Job Applicants

Where you apply. Most applications are submitted through a careers site hosted by our recruiting service provider, Paylocity. Paylocity handles applicant information on our behalf as our service provider, as described in its Client Employees Privacy Statement. Paylocity's own terms and policies also apply to your use of its careers site, including any cookies it uses. This section describes how Goodville handles applicant information, however you send it to us.

Information we collect

  • Contact information: name, mailing address, email address and telephone numbers, including mobile number.
  • Application materials: résumé, cover letter, work history, education, qualifications, skills, professional licenses and references.
  • Recruiting records: your answers to screening questions, interview notes, assessment results, the positions you apply for, and our communications with you, including text messages and records of your consent to receive them.
  • Screening and eligibility information: work authorization, and, where permitted by law and with your separate written authorization, background check information such as identifiers (for example, Social Security number and date of birth), criminal history, driving records and verification of education and employment.
  • Voluntary equal employment opportunity information, such as race, ethnicity, sex, veteran status or disability status. Providing it is optional. We limit access to it, and it is not used to make hiring decisions.

We collect this information from you, your references and former employers, background screening providers (with your authorization), our recruiting service providers, and publicly available professional sources.

How we use it. We use applicant information to:

  • receive, review and manage applications;
  • assess your qualifications for the job you applied for and, if you agree or the law permits, for other openings;
  • communicate with you, including scheduling interviews;
  • verify information and conduct lawful pre-employment screening;
  • keep records required by law; and
  • comply with the law and protect our rights, systems and people.

Screening questions. Our recruiting system lets us sort and filter applications, and it may flag an application whose screening answers show that a minimum requirement for the job, such as a required license or work authorization, is not met. Goodville staff review applications and make hiring decisions. If you believe your application was flagged in error, or you need an accommodation to apply, contact us at compliance@goodville.com or (717) 354-4921.

How we share it. We share applicant information only as needed with:

  • Goodville employees involved in recruiting, hiring, human resources, legal and information security;
  • service providers that help us with recruiting, applicant tracking, text messaging, assessments and background screening, which are required to protect the information and use it only to provide services to us;
  • government authorities, courts or others when the law requires or permits it; and
  • a successor organization in a merger, acquisition or similar transaction, subject to appropriate safeguards.

Retention. We keep applicant information as long as needed for recruiting, recordkeeping and legal compliance, and at least as long as federal and state employment laws require. If you are hired, your information becomes part of your employment record.

4. SMS Text Messaging Terms and Conditions

Goodville Mutual Recruiting Texts. Goodville sends informational text messages to job applicants about their applications, including application status updates, interview scheduling and reminders, and requests for information needed to complete the hiring process. Messages are sent through Paylocity's job messaging service, and Paylocity's text messaging terms also apply.

How you opt in. You opt in by selecting "Yes" to the question "We may use SMS during the hiring process. Do you give us permission to text you?" on our job application. Selecting "No" does not remove you from consideration. We send recruiting texts only to mobile numbers that have opted in. Opting in is not a condition of applying or being hired.

Message frequency and costs. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.

Help. Reply HELP for help, or contact us at (717) 354-4921 or compliance@goodville.com.

Opting out. Reply STOP to stop receiving texts. We also honor other reasonable opt-out requests, including replies such as QUIT, END, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE, OPT OUT or REVOKE, or a request to us by phone or email. We will process opt-out requests promptly and within 10 business days. After you opt out, you may receive one text confirming your request. Reply START to opt back in. Opting out of texts does not affect your application; we will contact you by email or phone instead.

Carriers. Wireless carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Your mobile information. We do not share mobile information with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. We do not share text messaging opt-in data and consent with any third parties, except service providers that operate our text messaging program and as required by law.

5. Security

We maintain administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information and limit access to people with a legitimate business need. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee the security of information.

6. Retention of Website Information

We keep information from our website and Contact Us form as long as needed to respond to you and for our ordinary record retention periods.

7. Your Requests

You may ask to review or correct personal information we hold about you under this notice, or ask us to delete it. To make a request, email compliance@goodville.com or call (717) 354-4921. We will verify your identity before responding, and we will respond as required by applicable law. Some information we must keep for legal or recordkeeping reasons.

8. Changes to This Notice

We may update this notice. If we make material changes, we will post the updated notice on goodville.com and with our recruiting service provider, and update the effective date above.
